News for the Battle of the Swing Cities is coming soon! We have had many awesome cities in the past competing for the Trophy, and this is a swing dance competition like none you've ever seen, unless of course you have been to one of Deor's (the Duke of Detroit's) Battle of the Swing Cities competitions before. There will be a cap on the number of teams allowed this year, but we have had the likes of Grand Rapids. Cleveland, Columbus, Windsor, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Detroit and many many MORE!
Start putting your team together today, and let us know if you want to reserve a party for where all the action is going to be! That's right, it's during the BIG III which has been rocking the majestic Masonic Ballroom in Detroit for YEARS and YEARS!

Three Live Bands including Nomad Willy featuring G'Jai, who is playing at WCLX this year and stole the show at RCLX last year with front woman Molly on the Vocals. Paul King and the RSO are going to bring the heat on Saturday Night. The last band is in the confirmation processes, but they are ripping roaring and ready to be announced to the world any day now!
Late Nights with local and out of town talent, some have confirmed, with announcements coming soon. We're talking the best in music, with plenty of that slow melty blues to go with the swing soul and funk we ALL love! oh yea, and Saturday Night win a pair of Aris Allen Shoes in our pumped up musical chairs contest. Throw in $2 shot specials throughout the nigh (until 2 a.m.) and we've got ourselves a party!

From Midnight to 3 - 3:30 a.m. Nomad Willy, featuring the sounds of the Detroit Areas own G'Jai will be bringing their high energy jams, as well as their slow down to earth blues to DetLX! Check out some music of these artists that are combining and bringing their talents to the Detroit Lindy Exchange! Get on up to Michigan and party down at DetLX!
After the band stops, stick around. We've got some AWESOME DJs rolling in from lot's of the places where the best DJ's are from! The party won't end until 5 in the morning!!!

Saturday Evening Dance -
Time: 8:15 p.m. - 12:45 a.m.

Competition: Battle of the Swing Cities
After a five-year Hiatus, the BATTLE of the SWING CITIES is back! This is not a band battle, this is the DANCE BATTLE! If you missed the first five, this huge dance competition draws the best dancers from around Michigan, the Midwest, and Beyond. As many 8 cities will compete in teams of six dancers each in three different dance competitions throughout the evening. More solid details are to come, but you can expect some fun competitions and suprises along the way! In the past we have had teams from Detroit, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Montreal, and MORE. You will not see anything like this anywhere in the are and Deor Orzame, the Duke of Detroit and producer of the competition doesn't know if he will ever do it again, so you don't wanna miss it!
Paul King and the Rhythm Society Orchestra will still be the featured band for the evening. The competitions will be throughout the night during the band breaks.
Dancers and music lovers will bask in swinging sounds of Paul King and the Rhythm
Society Orchestra, a 15-piece band performing true vintage swing. Their
sound is heavily influenced by Count Basie and Harry James. They have covered
the top swing venues throughout the Midwest and are three-time winners of the Battle
of the Bands. During the band intermissions, three dance
competitions will take place. More details on this soon.
The band will begin performing at 8:15 and conclude at
12:45 a.m. There is a cash bar available throughout the evening. Recommended
dress is semi-formal or vintage attire. Tickets are included in the cost for DetLX, or are $20 per
person in advance or at the door a la carte. Secured, lighted parking is available in The Masonic Temple's north
parking lot for $6 per vehicle.
Saturday Late Night Blues Dance -
The DJ list will be released shortly, but I can tell you this! After the party is still going crazy after the BIG III and the Battle of the Swing Cities, we're gonna move it to Virgo Nightclub! Shot specials until 2:00 a.m. and more off the hook dancing. This year, we are going to blues it up a little more and make sure everyone gets a huge portion of the blues and soul that we love. Just thinking about is making butterflies flutter about! But seriously, this will be OFF THE HOOK!
